A new season and a new paint job. Formula E was formed and suddenly our car was competitive again as the newer Formula Fords with with advanced suspension weren't allowed. We could still race in the bigger races and run the PRS with slicks in Monoposto, but Formula E, for us, was just perfect.
Getting ready for the first race of the year at Silverstone
The first race of 1986. Lodge Corner at Oulton Park in the wet. Ok on this lap....
...but not the next
Kirkistown in Northern Ireland. Formula E was one of the first mainland based championships to hold a round at the circuit. Start money, free testing and a wonderful bunch of people - fantastic!
The white tape on the nosecone is for minor repairs after a visit to the tyre wall in testing
Cadwell Park. The tight haipin on the Club Circuit. Charles Fogg follows
The same corner.....just chuck it in under braking to stop the understeer
Cadwell Park Full Circuit at the bottom of the mountain
Andrew changing gear ratios
Silverstone, at Woodcote in the Formula Ford race...
...a quick change of tyres and ride height, then straight out again for the Libre race
Andrew lining up for the Monoposto race
The winter of 1985/86 saw a complete rebuild of the car...
...which included moving the radiators into an area less prone to accident damage
I also produced a new helmet design
Recovering after a first lap "coming together" at the Donington GP chicane. Too many cars trying to use the same bit of road at once...
Damage was minimal, which is more than can be said for Dave Lowe's Lotus...
I managed to get a few places back again...
...although some were easier than others. Paul Hogarth goes backwards
Back to Kirkistown and another taste of Irish hospitality. I think my liver is still recovering!
I only meant to pass one car at the end of the straight, but ended up taking two!
Lodge Corner at Oulton Park
Lodge Corner in front of Brian Cooke
...the three of us were together for most of the race, but I was in front at the end....
Oulton Park. Passed the pits....
...and into Old Hall corner
Oh well - nobodys perfect!
